Reliance, BID Quality Award and pride of India
Reliance Industries is the largest conglomerate in India and is ranked 206th in the Fortune Global 500 List
With an annual turnover of US$35.9 billion and profit of US$ 4.85 billion, Reliance Industries was founded by the Indian industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani in 1932
During the past years, Reliance has diversified into many different sectors, although the heart and soul of the business used to be oil-related operations.

The group, based in Mumbai, was split into two after the famous ‘misunderstandings’ between the two sons of the founder, Mukesh and Anil Ambani, complicated the situation inside the company. Even so, Reliance Industries has kept growing and regaining its prestigious reputation. Proof of this is that Reliance was the only Indian conglomerate listed in Forbes’ “world’s most respected companies” and 1 out of every 4 investors in the country is a Reliance shareholder.

Reliance Industries Ltd., lead by Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, offers a great variety of products from petroleum based products and petrochemicals to garments. It also works in the fresh foods market through Reliance Fresh, it is involved in oil and gas exploration and production, and it owns many brands such as Reliance Retail Reliance Footprint, Reliance Time Out, Reliance Digital, Reliance Wellness, Reliance Trendz, Reliance Autozone, Reliance Super, Reliance Mart, Reliance iStore, Reliance Home Kitchens, and Reliance Jewel, all of which come under the Reliance Retail brand.

Quality Prize for Reliance Industries
The Ambani story

Mukesh Ambani joined Reliance in 1981. His first steps in the company were very successful, as he managed to raise Reliance’s manufacturing capacities from less than one million tones to twelve million tones per year thanks to the creation of 60 new manufacturing and technologically advanced facilities.

He also created Reliance Communications Limited, the largest telecommunications company in India, which is now lead by Anil Ambani, his brother.

Mukesh is the world’s fifth richest man, with a net worth of almost $50 billion and is also the owner of the Indian Premier League team, the Mumbai Indians.

Anil Ambani is the current Chairman of Reliance Capital, Reliance ADA Group and the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Energy. He has been considered by many as a “financial wizard” ever since he begun to direct Reliance’s efforts to raise millions of dollars from overseas financial markets. He has been able to create the Reliance one knows today, the Indian leader in textiles, petroleum, petrochemicals, power and telecommunications.

Both of them have personal fortunes which make the Ambanis the richest family in the world, but this is not the only reason they are constantly in the headlines. The famous quarrel between the two brothers rose much interest in every part of the world, as it meant that decisive changes were about to occur in India’s undisputable Giant.
